Bra\u0219ov, also known as Kronstadt (german) or Brass\u00f3 (hungarian) , is a town in Transylvania, Romania. It is located at the foot of the Carpathians and is one of the largest cities in the region. Brasov has a rich history dating back to the 13th century.<\/p>

The town was founded in the 13th century by German settlers and played an important role in trade and defense during the Middle Ages. The well-preserved medieval old town still bears witness to this rich past.<\/p>

A prominent landmark is the Black Tower, which was once part of the city's fortifications. The Black Church is probably the most famous sight of the city. The Gothic church was built in the 14th century and impresses with its imposing architecture. Its name comes from a fire in the 17th century that charred the exterior of the church black.<\/p>

The Town Hall Tower is a 58 meter (190 feet) high tower that offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the city and the surrounding mountains. The tower also houses an exhibition on the history of the city.<\/p>

The First Romanian School in Brasov is a historical building where the first school education in Romanian language took place in the 18th century. The building now houses a museum that shows the history of Romanian education and culture in Transylvania.<\/p>

Bra\u0219ov also has a thriving cultural scene with theaters, concert halls and museums.
